We've got a coup on our hands...
Thailand's constitution just can't seem to hang around for very long at a stretch.
This raises the intriguing question... how come the U.S. constitution persists?

The US constitution exists because the people allow it to exist. The public elects the president, who leads the country under the Constitution. Only under great leadership and the rules set in place before other presidents allows for the continued existence of democracy.
The leadership of a country is extremely important because it guides the people to stay on the right track. If there was no confidence in the leadership of a country, this allows and calls for the military to take action.
Through great leadership, the US has been able to keep the military under public rule. The US military does not have a reason to fight against the country.
